I will remember Barbara for the rest of my life for being an incredible woman of God. I met Barbara in San Jose at the first Women of Faith conference held there. I shadowed one of the speakers and was so blessed by Barbara and her husbands humble spirits; we spoke in the hotel for quite a while. She will be missed. I look forward to spending time with her in heaven. Sincerely,
Leslie Achord

Four years ago we found out our teenage son had been sexually abused by a church member when he was 7 years old, when he declared he was gay. I had read Barbara's book, Where does a Mother go to Resign years earlier, but now it all made sense. Through my pain I began to journal and after three years I had filled many journals. I felt the Lord telling me to write a book about it. I didn't know of many pastors who had experienced such devastation as we had and I wondered if there might be a market for such a book. I wrote Barbara, explaining my desire to write. Unbelievably, she called me and said to "write that book!" I completed the book a few months ago and much healing has come from it and I am currently seeking a publiser. I decided to call and tell her,but when I did, the number had been disconnected. Automatically, I knew something was wrong, so I googled Spatula Ministries and learned of Barbara's passing. I sat at my computer and wept, feeling like I had lost a dear friend even though I had never met her.
Barbara may have lost the battle with cancer, but she has won the victory through Jesus Christ! May His name be praised!
My sincerest condolences to the family of Spatula Ministies.

I was so sad upon hearing of Barbara's death. I saw her at my first Woman of Faith gathering. She was awesome. What a strong lady and a joy to have listened to. I know she is walking now down the gold paths in heaven and I will someday be able to see her again. God Bless David and comfort him during his time of sorrow. May the fond memories you have of her help to comfort you in your grief.

I can't believe I missed hearing of Barbara's home going. I am a church secretary and summer is very busy for us with youth camp, VBS, and junior camp. Somehow she graduated to glory and I missed it. Today a day in September I was looing for any new books from her. Once I stopped crying I felt that I should go ahead and reach out even though my condolenses are late. I have almost all of her books. I have bought some of them more than once because I like to share them with other hurting people. God used this lady and her wonderful words of wisdom to save my sanity more than once. Blessings to her family and to the work that will continue in her name.

Pain is inevitable, but misery is optional. One of Barbara's famous lines and so true-we are in pain because we want her with us, but we are not in misery because we know she is passing out spatulas and geraniums in heaven. Barbara is with Gopher Bill and Tim and Steve. We love you and will miss you, but we will see you soon.

I thank God for Barbara. Her book Stick a Geranium in Your Hat & Be Happy was just what I needed in early 90's. When our children struggle, we become consumed & can't always see the big picture. But thanks to Barbara-if she could trust God with her son, so could I. She was just a mom like me, so she gave me HOPE when I so needed it. Her sharing of her grief & struggles not only strengthened me, but gave me back the gift of laughter which I had put aside for awhile. Felt like she saved my life & wrote & told her. I know she is sitting at the feet of Jesus rejoicing & singing & like always..give him the glory! Praise God for your ministry. I'll see her one day in Heaven and thank her personally then! God sends us just what we need when we need it - He sent me Barbara's books!!

Barbara's enthusiasm and love for life was such an inpiration. What a reunion she is having! My thoughts and prayers go out to the rest of the family. It almost makes you jealous that she got to the feet of Jesus first, doesn't it? It won't be long until we will all be there together!

When I received the envelope in the mail I knew that my friend was with Jesus. 11 years ago Barbara called me one evening to talk about my son. She was so encouraging and uplifting. With all of her tapes and books and little notes, she helped us get through a difficult time in our lives. When I saw her at a Women of Faith weekend we spoke and she remembered me. That was such a surprise. I am deeply saddened that she will not be writing the Love Line anymore but am thrilled to to know that her son, David, will carry on for her. Please accept my deepest condolences. She was such a dear, precious woman who loved her Savior.

During my darkest hours Barbara made me laugh thru her books and Women of Faith conferences. She is truly an angel and I know she has everyone in heaven laughing so hard that they are all reaching for tissues to wipe their eyes! I can't wait to see you again in heaven Barbara.

We at Exodus were so sad to learn that a dear friend and lovely lady has left our presence here on earth; but we rejoice that she is now with her heavenly Father free from pain and strife. Our prayers are with her family and she will always be remembered for God's love and joy that she spread around the world. Goodbye for now, we will see you later on.
