Dave, I really appreciated your Mother and am sorry to hear of her passing. I just happened to look her up today on Goggle because I was thinking of her. What a lovely homecoming she had with our Savior!
I also want to thank you again for leading me to Christ back at Citrus college. I pray that things are going well for you!!! Wendy

Dear Friends at Spatula Ministries. I just learned of Barbara's death today (rather late!) and checked out this website. I was so sorry to hear it. I wanted to add my appreciation for what her book-Stick a Geranium..." meant to me years ago when our daughter got into drugs, etc. God truly used Barbara to rescue me and give me hope at a time when I couldn't find any. I still turn to it when I go through griefs of any kind. I will always be grateful to her and look forward to giving her a big hug in heaven.
Blessings, Ginny

I bought my first Barbara Johnson book..Mama Get the Hammer...There's a Fly on Papa's Head...at a Christian retreat back in 1996. It has helped me and helped me help people with her words. I just found out she has passed on. Although I have never met her, I will miss her. God Bless!

A year ago our daughter came to us and said she was gay and she along with her partner are Wicken. Just months before we spent our last Sunday together at our home church where she sang on the Praise Team. We have reached out each week to our daughter letting her know we loved her and wanted to see her, talk with her - anything really, but this week she decided to take her partner's name and no longer have anything to do with us asking us to never contact her again.

I had seen Barbara so often at the WOF conferences that I had attended and so often this year had longed for a site where I could find her wisdom...

Once again I find myself longing for Barbara's wisdom. Knowing that she passed away a couple of years ago I did a search on the off chance there were materials I could order and found the video's. What a blessing they have been for me today. Not only her words, messages, scriptures and humor but David's as well. I am ordering one of the books that was mentioned on the video's a couple of times.

Thank you for keeping Barbara's ministry alive. There are so many parents who have lost children who desperately need a video in the middle of the night!

Blessings,
Amy

Good morning

I have read Barbara Johnson's "Stick a Geranium in Your Hat and Be Happy" many years ago and learned such a lot from it, that I decided that if my son comes to me and tells me that he is gay, that I would accept him and not reject him and that was many years ago when he was still a little boy. Now he is 17 years old and has just told me that he is gay and was very scared to tell me, because he did not know what my reaction would be.

Well as you can guess, a mother knows things and I just did not know when I was going to be told about it. Well, I was shocked and am still trying to work through my feelings. I then looked at every book store for her books and could not find them... I then thought of going to our local library and found some there, which I am reading now. But these are books that you don't want to borrow, you want to own them, because you want to read them over and over when you are down. So I will try and buy one book every month. I am struggling financially at the moment, but this is something that I want to do and get each and every one of Barbara Johnson's book.

Thank you very much!

Dear Family and Friends of Barbara, No doubt you've heard and read this so many, many times throughout your mother's life, but I have to reiterate how much your mother's gift of words has done for me. I'd heard of your mom as an author and a speaker but I never read anything of hers until I went through a divorce. I found out something that she had written about was ringing true to me. She'd mentioned in one of her early writings about how her teeth itched. I remember laughing at the very idea. Well, guess what? My husband left and my teeth started to itch! No joke! Your mother's words helped me through divorce, the revelation of two sons being on the autistic spectrum, and just being able to rediscover joy when everyday life seems to get you down.

As I type this, I am recovering from a miscarriage and no doubt I'll pick up one of her books to read again. Your mother meant so much to the world and our loss is truly Heaven's gain. I never met her but I feel like a member of my family is gone, which is how much her writing spoke to me. She and her words also helped me through the passing of my parents and grand child.

I am so happy to see a site to keep her good works alive. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of your family!

Love and prayers to all of you!

Thanks for the memories past, present and future.

I have just read Barbara's book "Stick a Geranium in your Hat and Be Happy" and I am now starting "Splashes of Joy in the Cesspools of Life". Barbara has such a wonderful perspective on life and I am taking a lot from the books on how to live a godly, Christian life. I am so thankful to a friend for lending me the books!

I did not know about Barbara's death until today. Her books were and still are being a blessing to my life. I know that she is smiling from heaven.

A hug from Spain. God bless you!
