Wow, I miss your mom! I am sitting here reading from her flip calendar from I don't suffer from Insanity I enjoy every minute of it! As old as this calendar is, I always am amazed how it speaks to me.

Much love and I miss her!!!!

I just bought the book "when your child breaks your heart" for my mother. (This is apparantly the re-release of "where does a mother go to resign"). Our family has been hit by the homosexual bombshell fired by my younger brother, her only son and the youngest. I looked online for this ministry and was very saddened to hear of Barbara's passing. I notice that the last posting was about a year ago, so I pray that the mission continues, because there are still people out there who need 'scraped off the ceiling'. We need the hope given from those who have overcome this trial. May this ministry continue to be a blessing to those who need it most, and do not know where to go. May God bless everyone looking for hope.

I was lamenting some of the wayward life choices of my daughter and remembered Barbara Johnson and Spatula Ministries. Feeling a need to connect, I did a search and learned that Barbara had passed 2 years ago. That only made me more depressed, but I realized that there is a continuing ministry. Are there local chapters in the northwest and if so, do they have a website?

Twenty years ago, when I found out my husband was gay, my Pastor gave me the book "Where does a Mother go To Resign"? Barbara, thru her books, became a friend who could make me laugh and have hope.

I first read one of Barbara Johnson's books back in the late 80s when I felt like I was not only in a tunnel without the light at the end showing, but in a pit in that tunnel. Her book brought me laughter. I wrote to her and asked her if I could print all the funny little jokes in it and put them up on my wall at home....forget the "Happy Box"...I wanted a "Happy Wall" and she wrote to me and replied "Go for it!" So I did and they really gave me joy during that time. She is missed greatly! What was so ironic was the fact that my husband at that time and my brother were both homosexual and I didn't know it. I just needed the laughter in my life and she gave it to me. Thank you Barbara! :p

I have read several of your mom's books and just today bought, When Your child Breaks Your Heart. I'm half way through and it's already helping me see some things I need to do as a mom. My son has gone through a divorce and she moved over 300 miles away. He's started drinking really bad and pushing his family away. I'm to the point I don't know what to do and he's not speaking. I can't wait to read the rest. Just wanted to let you know what a blessing your mom was and still is to us all out here.

I suppose I have been living under a rock because I did not realize that Mrs. Johnson had passed away. I first met her at the very first season of the Women of Faith Conferences in Chicago, IL. I was so very touched by her witness and her story and have read some of her books and have never failed to learn and to grow from her writing. Hearing Mrs. Johnson speak at the WOF, I would have to say was like riding a rollercoaster of emotions; she would have me laughing hysterically one minute and crying my heart out the next - she truly was a gift from God. I have been battling health issues the last 2-1/2 years and she has come to mind a lot during that time, something she once said or wrote would inspire me to keep on keeping on. God bless her family and the continuance of her ministry.

I am a mother of three i have a four year old a two year old and a three month old. my husband just recently retired from the army on medical terms and we have had some pretty tough time thus far. i have been reading your mother's book stick a geranium in your hat and be happy. it has touched me in many ways and has given me new hope in the world. there are things that i have found to be very comforting in our desperate dire time of need and i couldn't ask for any better guidance than from another mother who has been faced with it all. i just wanted to let you know that your mother, mrs. barbara johnson, has brought to me a new meaning of life and how to live it. I'm not but twenty three years of age and i have a new out look on life. she has done soo many good things for the world and the lives of mothers all over. you are extremely fortunate to have had a mother as caring and as attentative as she was and to lead you in the way of the lord. i wish i could have thanked her personally for the things that she has done. i unfortunatley just became aware of her passing this month and i wish to send my condolances. i send my love to you all and keep you in my prayers.

Today in church we had a speaker from Exodus ministry and he mentioned Barbara Johnson and how she had gone to be with the Lord. I was sad because I am reading one of her daily devotionals this year. I didn't know she had gone to be with Jesus and felt the loss. Her daily words inspire me and I am thankful God is using her legacy in my life today.
